When asked why Success chose to be a KID smART school this year, Lower School Principal and Co-Founder Niloy Gangopadhyay replied: "We decided to become a KID smART school because we realized that the arts integration being offered by the program would be an incredible asset to our students and staff. Half way through the year we have seen our teachers' repertoire grow in reaching students in the subjects of writing and social studies; the areas where our artist in residence works with our students and staff. The monthly professional development sessions have also had a tremendous impact on our teachers as they come back each time with ideas to implement immediately into their teaching."

Teacher info:
This year Success has 8 teachers participating in the KID smART AXIS Program. Success teachers attend monthly trainings and are working in several small learning groups including Early Childhood, Theater & Literacy and Poetry Across the Curriculum.

Will Bowling is the KID smART teaching artist in residence at Success Prep. Will is working with grades K and 1st this school year. A jack-of-all-trades, Will is connecting theater, movement, music and even puppetry to core objectives in reading, writing and history.

Will says, “Working with the students and teachers at Success Preparatory is an honor. I feel privileged to use creative expression to master core curriculum objectives, and feel constantly encouraged and challenged by both my students and co-teachers. It's humbling watching both adults and kids dive right into this tricky, funny, sticky and kooky mess we call theater, without hesitation, and is a source of daily inspiration for me.” .
