To complement its in-school programming and improve youth access to the arts on a larger scale, KID smART recently co-founded and/or joined three city-wide projects involving a wide cross-section of local stakeholders.
New Orleans Arts Education Alliance
New Orleans Arts Education Alliance is creating partnerships across cultures, communities and classrooms to ensure that every K-8 student receives abundant and resource-rich arts learning experiences connected to New Orleans cultures. Students deserve the best quality education both in and out of school time. The Youth Program Quality Initiative (YPQI) is in use throughout the country, providing training, data and reflective practices to adults working with children to ensure that quality is central to the work. Spearheaded by the Baptist Community Ministries, YPQI is changing services for youth for the better – increasing student safety, engagement and voice.
KID smART is proud to be a part of this community-wide initiative to provide continuous quality improvement for services for students. For more information about the YPQI process and the 15 organizations piloting the work in New Orleans, click here.
