How do we make creativity a practice rather than just a bolt of lightning? What are the methods that writers use to make new things? This workshop helps teachers bring students into the mind and practice of the creative maker. Using a variety of techniques and practices, from creative brainstorming using famous photos and paintings, to developing characters with the body and voice, teachers will learn how their students can approach creative writing assignments with energy and confidence. Using the model of playwriting, this workshop walks through each stage of the writing process, from initial idea through editing through presentation. Teachers will learn unique tools that allow them to make their students confident in the writing process.
