Reader’s Theatre is a collaborative approach for engaging students in reading, writing, listening, and speaking. In this workshop, learn how to use Reader’s Theatre strategies and techniques to help students build and retain knowledge that correlates to core academic standards in ELA, Science, and Social Studies. Reader’s Theatre helps students increase comprehension, develop fluency through repeated exposure to text, increase reading motivation, and promotes confidence. In this simple technique, actors read a script and the audience visualizes the action from what is being read aloud. It requires no costumes, sets, minimal props, and no memorized lines.  Reader’s Theatre engages students and provides a real purpose for reading and an opportunity for cooperative learning.
