Masked drama is an ancient art form with vast opportunities for creative learning and expression. This workshop will explore the full arc of the mask-making and performance process, drawing on the traditions of African, Asian, and Greek theater. Participants begin by working with a neutral mask and a piece of text (from ELA, science, history, or math), eventually bringing characters to life and building a story to wrap around grade and subject-appropriate state standards. This workshop is a terrific hybrid of visual and performing arts – perfect for a full-faculty gathering!
