Arts Planning and Accessibility for All Learners

SEL

In this session we will get to know one another and our experiences in teaching through the use of story. We will develop shared language around disability justice (using the Mia Mingus definition) with a brief self-examination of some long held ableist belief systems that show up in schools and classrooms and even ourselves. Educators will participate in activities that offer multiple access points for all learners and have time to plan for adapting their own practices and structures to allow for a more inclusive experience. Using the tenets of Universal Design for Learning, we will examine and adapt a lesson framework that creates space for all students in an inclusion classroom to succeed.
